Blog 2 (GSP 1113-03)

For my photo story, I'm taking photos of the best study spots across High Point University. Considering we have such a photogenic campus and various study areas, I thought it would be cool to capture these places and maybe introduce people to new study locations. Original Photo (Step 1) This is my original photo of the third floor of Smith Library. No edits have been made to this photo. Removal of Distraction & MASK (Step 2 & 3) I used multiple layers to remove the distracting stool in the original photo. I used the lasso tool to capture parts of the carpet to cover up the stool a few times. I also used the eyedropper tool to find different shades of the carpet so I could use the paint brush tool to cover up some blank areas. I finished by using the blur tool to blend all of the different layers together. Since I based some edits on the color of another layer and applied it to a portion of the photo, I consider this a layer mask adjustment. Final For...

Edited                                            Original #1 Original #2 I am more comfortable with Premiere after creating this project. Premiere crashed multiple times and I had to restart which was very frustrating because it took me much longer than expected. Though I didn't use many tools, I played around with them and got the hang of how to put them in effect. One thing I learned was that copy and paste can be really helpful when you are dealing with a long video. I shortened a 6-minute clip into a 20 second clip and copied/pasted it, so it would be easier to find the specific parts I was looking for, especially since I mashed two clips together. This is considered fair use because I created new work using segments from other videos by recycling old material into new. I also cited the original two videos above, giving the original creators credit. Thes...

Original 5 Minute Story: https://soundcloud.com/caroline-hamrick-830009156/blog-1-original Edited 1 Minute Story: https://soundcloud.com/caroline-hamrick-830009156/blog-1-edited This blog was a great opportunity to learn more about Adobe Audition. I learned new things through trial and error. For example, highlighting the part I wanted to delete was made much easier once I realized I could drag it longer or shorter if I held my tool at the top of the section. Before I realized that I had been listening to the same part over and over again, trying to find the specific second I wanted to delete. I used many of the tools that we talked about in class like the razor tool, the move tool, and the time selection tool. These all allowed me to edit my clip into a minute long story. When I added the introduction and closing clip, I had some trouble getting to the end of the page, but was able to find it by dragging the selected clip all the way to the end. Uploading the file was not ...

We attend a university that is known for it's stunning campus and well-thought out aesthetics. It's nearly impossible to take a poor photo of our immaculate campus. Going into this assignment, I knew I wanted to photograph something on campus. I debated between gardens, statues, and decor, but then I thought about the pinnacle logo of High Point University, Robert's Hall. With it's premier location and eye-appealing structure, I knew this would be a perfect subject for this assignment. After frolicking around the Robert's Hall lawn for a suspicious amount of time, photographing the building from various locations over the lawn, I was able to capture photos that showed background, symmetry, rule of thirds, lines, symmetry, and viewpoint. Background The blue sky allowed me to shoot the steeple of Robert's in a simple manner. This is my favorite shot because it really focuses on the building due to the background's simplicity. The clouds could be a dist...
