Accessible Video Project

Overall, I think this project was a really great way to bring attention to the fact that not everyone is able to watch or hear videos, TV shows, movies, etc. When producing projects, it is so important to include enough visual and audio details in order to provide for various kinds of people who are watching. Audio Only: With my audio only video, I strived to include as many sound effects as I could. When completing this project, I shut my eyes or avoiding looking at the screen in order to understand what it would be like to be visually impaired. With that, I tried to make my audio as detailed as possible, so that someone who is visually impaired doesn't feel like their missing out on the story. Visual Only: With my visual only, I added various personal photos, clip art photos, and some text. Again, I tried putting myself in a hearing impaired person's shoes and strived to incorporate as much visual detail as I could so that person wouldn't feel like they were mi...

Blog 5: Memey

I think we can all agree with Kanye right now... Step 1: Inspiration I chose to do this as my meme because this is how I feel everyday past mid-November. Walking to class at 7:45 a.m. suddenly feels like I'm charging through a blizzard, my lips are chapped, and I need to wear multiple jackets/sweaters to maintain a functioning body temperature.  Step 2: Photos                       + I chose Kanye West because he is known to possess a "pissed off" look in many of his photos. I thought his facial expression accurately portrayed how I feel when it drops below 60 degrees. I also feel like I'm living in photo #2 when I'm walking around campus towards the end of fall semester and at the beginning of spring semester, despite the fact there has yet to be a single snowflake in High Point, NC.  Step 3: Editing!                           ...

Blog 5: Advanced Premiere

youtube link: https://youtu.be/x8U9kgNi_BI For Blog #5, I decided to use the water bottle video completed in another class. I downloaded four emoji png's that described four of the students in the video. With each student and emoji, I utilized the editing/effect controls in Premiere. With that, I played with tools such as position, scale, and opacity for the emojis. In order to place specific effects on specific frames, I used the razor tool to single out one clip at a time. It made it easier on me to focus on one scene and the effects that I applied to it. I slowed down the scene where she flips the bottle, for dramatic purposes, by clicking "clip" then "speed/duration." From there, I was able to change the speed from 100% to 50% in that one specific scene. I learned that from the "How to create slow motion effects" reading. One scene, where I placed multiple emojis, I had to create a new sequence and place the three different question mark emojis ...

Blog 4: The Scene

For my Blog post, I decided to use the iconic, "look at all those chickens" video. I downloaded the original video as an MP4 and imported it into Premiere. I then clicked the M button in the A1 area so the original sound would be muted. I then downloaded an MP3 of the birds from "Finding Nemo" saying "mine, mine, mine" over and over again. Once I lined up the clips in an appropriate manner using my selection, razor, and marker tools, I left in the beginning of someone saying, "Oh would you just-" before inserting a sound effect of a censored bleep noise to give viewers the impression that the little girl was cursing at the birds. I had a lot of fun with this project and feel like this is a skill that can be used in the future! youtube link: https://youtu.be/OHZAQ3mXTXg
Swatches of Furniture Task 1: Photo I was in the common room of my residence hall when I started realizing all of the various colors in the furniture. Though there are multiple colors, somehow they all blend together. I decided to photograph a chair alongside a little decorative stand. The black, cream, and dark olive green provided the perfect colors for my swatch assignment. Task 2: InDesign Once I uploaded the image to InDesign, I set my original colors from the photo as new colors on the swatches icon. I found my perfect colors. Using the rectangle tool, I created my boxes for the swatch. I then used the "click and option" tool that we used in class to create the same size rectangles across my swatch. A dark grey, dark olive green, and an off white cream color. I set those as the boxes on my first column on 100% tint. In the next column, I placed the same colors, but at 70% tint. In the last column, I placed the same colors, but at 30%.  Task 3: Nameplates Us...

Still Image Video

youtube link: https://youtu.be/fP0uSZxCAUg My Still Image video project is about about my family's dog, Maui. A golden retriever who we got in the summer of 2017 who completes our family. Step 1: Audio in Adobe Audition. I imported my recording of myself talking about Maui. After trimming down the clip and removing unnecessary parts and pauses, I used the razor tool to separate the audio into two different clips, making it easier to import audio. I downloaded audio from freesound.org and inserted a song for the introduction and conclusion, along with audio clips that went along with the story. Such as, people asking, a car stopping, and dogs barking. I played around a lot with the fade in and fade out tools, so that my audio would sound smoother overall. Besides the razor tools and fade in/out edits, I also lowered the volume of a single audio track because it was too loud over my voice. I exported the audio file as a multitrack in preparation to use it in step 2. Step ...

Blog #3 (GSP)

Since I did yearbook for three years in high school, creating my Photostory draft felt as if I was creating a spread for yearbook. I started in Photoshop and chose two photos where the lighting was off or their were distracting elements in the photo. In the airplane photo, there was originally a Starbucks cup that I edited out by using the stamp tool. For the largest photo of the chair in Slane Student Center, I also edited a few lighting distractions by using the stamp tool and the paint tool. In InDesign, I used the fit content buttons a few times when moving around my photos, for it can be easy to make a mistake with that. I also utilized the proportions InDesign gives when you move things around. It makes your layout more organized and easier to complete. I also played around with the type tool and different fonts that InDesign has to figure out what would look best with my PhotoStory.
